Q&A (Frequently Asked Questions)

About Diving & Snorkeling

By what time should I arrive at Naha Airport to catch the afternoon diving tour?

Basically, the boat departs at 1:00 PM in the afternoon, so please arrive at the airport by 11:30 AM at the latest. Depending on the schedule of the day, we may be able to accommodate you for a boat departing around 2:30 PM. In that case, arriving by 1:00 PM is fine. Please contact us first to discuss your arrival time!

I’m not very familiar with the "Itoman" diving point. What kind of place is it?

First of all, there are very few people here, especially during the summer. This is because most people go to Onna Village or the Kerama Islands. Therefore, you won't feel crowded on the boat or underwater. In some cases, you might even have the boat all to yourself! The ocean is rich in marine life and has excellent visibility. There are points with dense coral in shallow waters, and sandy areas that are very relaxing. Furthermore, as you head toward the southernmost tip of Okinawa's main island, you'll find dynamic terrain points with underwater caves where beams of light shine through. If you visit at noon in the summer, you might even see a beautiful curtain of light descending from the cave ceiling.

It's been several years since my last dive and I'm very anxious. Is it okay if we take it slow?

Yes, it's perfectly fine! We use our own 30ft boat, which has a maximum capacity of 12 people (and it's rarely full). This allows us to offer flexible diving tours, such as choosing safe points based on the guests' requests. We can also accommodate requests if you'd like to try slightly more advanced points.

It's been several years since my last dive, so I'm not sure if I can prepare my gear by myself. Can you help me?

Yes, we will explain everything from scratch. We believe that if you have even a little anxiety about diving, you won't be able to enjoy it to the fullest. We are happy to answer any questions you may have, within our power to do so. Please feel free to ask us anything, even if you’ve forgotten how to set up your gear or how to control your neutral buoyancy.

Do you provide pickup from the airport and drop-off to the hotel after diving?

Yes, we do! We will coordinate the pickup time according to the boat's departure schedule. Let's decide on the details through our communication. It would be a waste to go straight back to your hotel after diving, so if you have time, why not take a little detour on the way back to see something wonderful in Okinawa or stop by a delicious local restaurant (like an Okinawa Soba shop)?

About Snorkeling

How do you take care of small children during the tour?

We provide boat-shaped floats that children can ride on. They can look into the water through the transparent bottom while riding. Also, since they will be wearing life jackets, there is absolutely no risk of drowning.

How far do you provide rentals for the snorkeling tour? What do I need to bring?

We provide a full set of necessary equipment for snorkeling, including a mask, snorkel, boots, fins, and a life jacket. Wet suits are available upon request during the hot summer season. All you need to bring is your swimwear and a towel. If you are concerned about sunburn, please bring a rash guard or sunscreen. You may also want to bring personal items like sunglasses, a hat, and sandals.

I've never snorkeled before. What kind of points will you take me to? Is boat snorkeling difficult for a first-timer?

We basically guide beginners to beach points. At the beach, the water gets deeper very gradually, so even those who are afraid of water can practice in a place where their feet touch the ground, which is very safe. After practicing in the shallows, let's go to a spot with lots of fish! Even if you can't swim, you'll be wearing a life jacket, so don't worry. If you're still anxious, we have floats you can hold onto. For first-timers, boat snorkeling can be intimidating because it's deep from the moment you enter the water, which can lead to panic. While there are slight differences in the marine life seen at beaches versus boats, the beach is by no means inferior. In fact, I highly recommend the beach because you can get closer to the marine life in the shallows. Also, there's no risk of seasickness, and we have more flexibility with time compared to boat tours.

It's my first time. Can I do it?

Anyone can participate! If it's your first time and you're not sure how to play, we will give you a thorough explanation before we start. Then, we'll practice breathing in a shallow area where your feet touch the ground before heading out. We have floats for you to hold onto if you're still feeling uneasy. We've had many participants in their 50s and 60s try snorkeling for the first time, and they all tell us how much fun they had. We often hear guests say they want to play in the ocean again when they return to Okinawa!

Up to what age can I participate?

We generally accept participants from ages 4 to 70. Younger children are always welcome. Being on a boat and just looking at the fish from the surface is plenty of fun. While 70 is our usual limit for first-timers, those who are physically active can still enjoy it. However, for those who don't exercise regularly, jumping into snorkeling at 70 can be physically demanding. In my experience, it's common for older guests to get tired more easily as it can be difficult to move their bodies well in the water.

How long do we play? What is the total duration?

One snorkeling session typically lasts about 40 to 50 minutes. Since we conduct tours in small groups, the time may be slightly shorter or longer depending on the participants' enthusiasm and physical condition. Please plan for about 2 to 2.5 hours from your arrival and changing until dismissal. We will do our best to accommodate any requests if you need to finish early for other plans.

Can I take a shower after snorkeling?

The two beaches we primarily use for snorkeling have shower facilities available for a small fee (200–300 yen). You can rinse off and change clothes there before heading to your next sightseeing spot!
